Well……
The story goes like this. This machine’s CPU fan wore out, so I started scrounging for a replacement.
The only fan I had laying around was a case-size fan, and it wouldn’t fit on the stock heatsink. Not a problem while building the machine, I just put the fan on top of the heatsink, and let gravity hold it there.
Didn’t work so well when I turned it upright.
Trouble is, that fan just wouldn’t stay anywhere useful, so I *ahem* engineered a duct solution to hold the fan in place and force its output over the heatsink.
It’s worked well enough, I just left it!

I think that’s a beautiful piece of engineering. Thanks for sharing!
I particularly like the use of packing tape as an alternative to duct tape.
Note to self: don’t let davak look inside the Tech-Recipes servers…
