Chapel Hill Bloggers Meeting 10-16-06
October 17th, 2006
I had a blast meeting some of the fellow bloggers here in the triangle. I bookmarked a ton of sites, and I wanted to briefly log them here for reference.
- cyberthrush introduced me to the wonderful debate exploring if Ivory-Bill Woodpeckers continue to exist as a species in our world. His site Ivory-bills LiVE!! is a nice contrast to sites such as Ivory-bill Skeptic. Let the great Ivory-Bill Debate continue!
- lcramer showed off her exploration into blogging biology with Microblogology. Although it exposes her students (and others) to the frontiers and debates of science, the associated learning is a perfect side effect.
- Anton Zuiker of mistersugar facilated the discussion, filled us in on the success of ConvergeSouth, and is promoting the North Carolina Science Blogging Conference. (UNC basketball tickets, really!??!)
- Josh Staiger entered late and threw out links to multi-user bloggging software such as the wordpress forkLyceum and IBM’s open source blogging beast Roller. Sorry, I missed the Raleigh meetup tonight!
- I talked a bit about the things we have learned with our years of techrx. Someone brought up food blogging which allowed me to bring up our Jennifer’s Bake or Break blog. I wish I would have remembered to bring up her Eating Onions Together site too. Sorry, Jennifer!
Part of the fun of blogging is the community which forms around these sites. Thanks for refilling my geek tanks, guys.
