New blu-ray drives
May 24th, 2007
Engadget has published an article on Buffalo’s and Optiarc’s new blu-ray drives. If you’d like, visit them.
Those of you itching to take arms in the epic struggle for Blu-ray glory have a few more options today, as both Buffalo and Optiarc announced that they’re shipping their second generation of BD drives. The Buffalo units (pictured) use the Pioneer BDC-202 mechanism we’ve seen popping up lately, so while they can’t author Blu-ray discs, they’ll read BD-ROM, BD-R and BD-RE discs at 5x, dual-layer recordable Blu-ray discs at 2x and write to the various CD and DVD formats at 1-32x….

May 19th, 2007

It is supposed to include NVIDIA 8800 graphics cards, a 17-inch display, and two 160GB hard drives, with Intel’s 975 chipset.
These pictures aren’t very satisfactory, so we will have to wait for more evidence of its existence.

The limited edition The Simpsons Xbox 360 console will be available as prizes of competitions leading up to the movies release on July 27.
There are only 100 models being made, so if you want one, you have to be really lucky.

This matches the Simpsons game that will be coming soon.
Portable Applications
May 6th, 2007
This post is meant for the person who has to work on more than one computer for a long period of time.
If you, like myself, work on many computers, then you must realize how frustrating it is to have to tweak each computer’s settings to get it the way you like it. I am also assuming you use a flash drive to move information, not the easy way. Now, there are several ways to have your preferences in your flash drive and have it automatically load your settings when the flash drive is inserted.
PortableApps- Free
PortableApps installs itself into your flash drive and allows you to have programs installed into your flash drive with your preferences.
In the Suite version, many free apps are preinstalled including Firefox, Thunderbird, VLC Media Player, and more.
You can choose the suite version, which has preinstalled software, or the lite version, which has only the PortableApps client and allows you to choose what you want to install.
Any USB 2.0 compatible device will work, including iPods.

MojoPac- $50
MojoPac allows you to easily install the programs you use the most, including games!
With MojoPac, you can install Photoshop, World of Warcraft, AIM, and iTunes.
You can be sure that almost no evidence is left behind when using MojoPac.
Like PortableApps, MojoPac will work with any USB 2.0 device.

U3- Depends on price of Flash Drive
U3 smart flash drives are made to be able to hold applications and programs.
These flash drives load the launchpad upon insertion and automatically start the programs you choose.
There are many choices of what you can install, but if you want to create your own U3 compatible programs, use Package Factory. (This might not always work)

CNC Toaster
May 2nd, 2007

Behold! The revolutionary step forward in toast printing technology. People at EvilMadScientist.com have created a working CNC toaster!
It works by using a gun that shoots hot air to toast the bread at precise levels. Their first test involved writing the common phrase “Hello World” onto the toast. Needless to say, this was successful, and it was time to move onto faces.
Using their toaster once again, they drew a picture of Ze Frank. Once again, success! There are movies of this feat that can be viewed at YouTube.
With the CNC Toaster, there is no piece of bread that can stay untoasted!

Bubble Head web cam
May 1st, 2007

In the last couple of years, webcams have not gotten that much better. Many stick out so much, some companies (like Apple) have tried to hide it as a tiny little dot on your computer.
Because of Bubble Head, you can leave your webcam out for all to see and enjoy!
Bubble Head is a webcam that is built on a copper frame with polyurethane, meaning you can shape his body to go any where you want it.
Whether on your computer, on the side, or on the little ladder included, it is sure to easily integrate itself into the office landscape.
As a cool design inclusion, the is an LED around the webcam that also serves as a clock.
Currently a prototype by Eric Zhang, it is unsure the future of these brilliantly designed webcams and whether they will ever be mass produced.
Lost your stuff? Get your StuffBak!
April 24th, 2007
Have you ever lost something important, like a laptop with all of your security information, corporate code, and your precious data?
It is easy to lose precious items, whether they were misplaced or dropped unknowingly.
Normally, the percentage of return is 5%. (Yeah right, more like 0%)
Stuffbak allows for a way for the good people of a city to help return your precious item to you, for a reward of course.
Which is why Stuffbak is reliable. They don’t require the item being turned on, and they offer an incentive to give it back.
About 75% of Stuffbak products are returned yearly. (This is actually believable, I lost my cell phone and laptop. I got the cell phone 3rd day and laptop back at the end of the week)
All you need to do is buy stuffbak stickers, activate the sticker online, and make sure it doesn’t get lost in the first place.
Oh yeah, I wasn’t paid to blog about this, I was just reminded of it yesterday and decided to blog about it.
