The major buzz today has been surrounding the G1, the long awaited phone running Google’s Android. If you’re like me, you are not getting a G1 any time soon. I recently upgraded to a BlackBerry Pearl and will be waiting quite some time before doing another phone upgrade. Fortunately, I will not miss out on all of the Google goodness.

By downloading and installing Google Apps for Mobile, you can have access to a great deal of Google goodness:

Open the application by selecting it’s icon.  If you already have the latest Gmail and Google Maps installed, it will say so, otherwise make sure to install these applications

The Gmail for Mobile application is a great addition to your BlackBerry, giving you full access to your Gmail account.  That includes your contacts and archived email, labels, and chat history.  Gmail will frequently update your inbox and notify you when you have new mail.

Google Maps is another great app, especially since they recently Street View to the mobile application.  It can come in quite handy if you get lost and need to get some quick directions to your destination.

Google Sync makes it quick and easy to sync your BlackBerry calendar with your Google Calendar.

For other Google greats such as Google Docs, Reader, Notebook, etc.  clicking the Google Mobile App icon and selecting them from the menu will open the desired site in your browser.

Finally, install Google Talk for BlackBerry to keep in touch with your friends.

So you can easily Google out your BlackBerry for free and help put out the desire to acquire a G1!
