Now that you learned about RSS feeds, you can start using them to make yourself (and others) more productive. Have lots of feeds that you want to share with your friends or want to add such a feature to your blog? With RSSMix, you can do this in just a few clicks.

RSSMix is a great website I found just the other day and it’s very simple to use.

  • First, copy and paste your favorite feeds into the text area. Each feed should occupy one line.
  • When you’re done, click on Create. RSSMix will find your feeds and mix the articles from each feed into one.

Additionally, you could create a site similar to Google News by combining a bunch of different feeds and then going to the RSSMix News Wizard. This page will let your format your mix feed and display the items inside a frame in order to be displayed inside a web page. Check it out and see what you can come up with. Below is a sample of a mix I made.

What is this good for?

RSSMix can add a little something extra to your site. Not only can it be used to point your readers (or friends) to what sites you read and help them discover something new, but you can use this for your own interest. For example, maybe you’re always in a rush and don’t have time to read all your news feeds. Create an mix of your favorite top story feeds (maybe Yahoo Top Stories or the New York Times Home page), add them to your feed reader and get all the latest in one feed! I’m sure there are more uses for this type of thing, so if you come up with some, please contact me.
