AJAX and tagging is all the rage these days and now it has been applied to another genre: video game reviews. With Gibbity you can tag and review video games of any type. It can show you similar games by showing you other games that are tagged similarly. It is really slick looks like it could be very useful for gamers.

It still has a few bugs and is still in beta status, but it’s impressive and functional as-is and registration is free. While checking out the site, be sure and play around with the Name That Quote game where you are shown a quote from a video game and asked to pick which game it’s from. Fun stuff.

So last night I sat down and was just designing some things when I made this wallpaper. I just wanted to let everyone know that they can now have it for themselves as well. It a very minimalistic wallpaper at 1600×1200, if you need another size you should be able to to it. You can download the wallpaper on my DeviantART page. Please leave a comment if you like it. Thank you to all our readers, if it wasn’t for you Tipmonkies wouldn’t be as big as it is now, and I wouldn’t be making these nice designs for everyone.

I personally don’t have a Mac, but I found this program on LifeHacker and it seems like a really neat little program. It’s called the SyncTunes. You can actually sync up Itunes with other mp3 players that aren’t ipods! Also PDAs, phones, and PSPs. I’m not sure how well this software work, but if your a heavy Itunes user this is something you should try. [Thanks to Lifehacker for this great find]

While it seems like I may have fallen off the end of the Earth, I’m still here, working on my real world job very hard with very incompetent people…not easy when you’re management. It seems our e-mail script was recently hacked by spammers so I replaced the link with one of my e-mail addresses. Just use that for now if you need to get in touch with me. Those of you who have added tipmonkey _A.T_ gmail.com to their Google Talk accounts, I’ve added you to my personal account which is ferrettim _A.T_ gmail.com. Finally, there is a new site design coming soon which will be very simple and should load much faster (one major complaint). When will I resume posting? Hopefully, this weekend :-D

If you’re like me and hate the “Send To” option in the menu when you right click on a file, then this tip is for you. Sometimes I go over the “Send To” menu on accident when I have a lot of things going on, and it just seems to lag out what i’m doing.

NZXT is a smaller case company, with big ideas. These are the makers of the Nemesis Elite case that everyone liked. Now we are reviewing the Lexa case, which seems to be a case suited for everyone. There are a lot of cases on the market these days, so choosing one for yourself might be a hassle. Most people would like a case with a ton of features, lightweight, and excelent design. The Lexa fits into the Classic Series of NZXT’s cases. NZXT defined the Lexa as “perfect symmetry”, and I believe they got that right.

Rating: 10 out of 10, Must have Hardware, and Editors Choice Award
Pros: Lots of drive space, 3 120mm, and 1 80mm fans included, tool less case design, 3 temperature display, rear cable management guard, silent operation.

We all know the new menu, you see it there when you right click on the desktop or in a folder. There are “new” file types in the menu that we don’t use. In this tip I will get rid of the Briefcase file type.

Learn to program in Python

If you’ve wanted to start programming, Python is a rather popular and easy language to learn and use. hose of you who remember when BASIC was king, Python is similar to an updated and more powerful version of BASIC, and there’s many similiarities between the two. (It also happens to be named after British comedians!) For the most part, Python is an interpreted language, meaning that you have to have the Python interpreter to run any Python programs. As a rule of thumb, if a computer can run the Python interpreter, it can run most Python programs. There’s Windows, DOS, Windows CE, Mac, Linux (Check your distribution’s package manager), Java, and many other interesting versions officially avaliable.

There’s also many good Python tutorials avaliable, such as Dive Into Python (for people with prior programming experience), and, for those new to programming or with less experience, The Non-Programmer’s Guide to Python. Happy coding, everyone!
