Whatever happened to TipMonkies?

Over the past few months, I’ve received quite a few e-mails wondering what has happened to the site (sorry if I haven’t replied to your specific one). Between my mother’s situation worsening, a new job for myself and my wife, a new town and house (yes, I moved and bought a lovely 3 story townhouse), two wrecks (both my wife’s car and mine), and a new car (because of said wreck), I haven’t had much time or motivation to continue work on this site. Now that things have settled down though, I will once again resume my duties on here, hopefully, as soon as this weekend. Thank you all for your patience and kind support, and I hope you will all keep on coming back for more.

*Please note that anything I have said about the staff is not meant to be insulting, or hurtful. I was just being blunt about it when I wrote this. If you have a problem with anything please contact me, as some others have done already. Also to the writers of TM, I would like to talk to you, so please email me if you can.*

Well since it seems that no one from the staff is posting anything, the site seems to be dead. I however have got enough hardware reviews this month to post some stuff, but I know that you the users don’t just want to read hardware reviews. The other thing is that when I publish a review the tag that allows me to have the “Read More” link seems to be broken. When I publish anything the whole review will show up on the front page. I will only publish the reviews like this if need be, otherwise I wouldn’t want to do something like this at all. I don’t know what’s going on with everyone else as I haven’t been able to talk to anyone and the writing staff is MIA.
As for myself I have been really busy trying to keep the site afloat with getting hardware reviews and doing a ton of behind the scenes work. I know a lot of you don’t see the kind of work I do for the site since a lot of it is hidden, but I can tell you that I haven’t slacked off doing my jobs. In the past few weeks I have gotten some amazing pieces of hardware to review for Tipmonkies, but I don’t think my reviews alone will keep the site going as it takes a whole team to complete a job. For this I am sorry to our readers for having to deal with the lack of everything on this site. I will answer any comments that anyone may have for me to the best that I can.

So last night I sat down and was just designing some things when I made this wallpaper. I just wanted to let everyone know that they can now have it for themselves as well. It a very minimalistic wallpaper at 1600×1200, if you need another size you should be able to to it. You can download the wallpaper on my DeviantART page. Please leave a comment if you like it. Thank you to all our readers, if it wasn’t for you Tipmonkies wouldn’t be as big as it is now, and I wouldn’t be making these nice designs for everyone.

While it seems like I may have fallen off the end of the Earth, I’m still here, working on my real world job very hard with very incompetent people…not easy when you’re management. It seems our e-mail script was recently hacked by spammers so I replaced the link with one of my e-mail addresses. Just use that for now if you need to get in touch with me. Those of you who have added tipmonkey _A.T_ gmail.com to their Google Talk accounts, I’ve added you to my personal account which is ferrettim _A.T_ gmail.com. Finally, there is a new site design coming soon which will be very simple and should load much faster (one major complaint). When will I resume posting? Hopefully, this weekend ![]()

Today, I’m happy to announce a new site I’ll be working on called Blu Era News. The site will deal specifically with anything Blu-ray related including news, announcenments, anything PS3, movie releases, and more. Not sure what Blu-ray is? Head on over to the Blu-ray page over at Wikipedia and find out! And before anyone says anything, work on Blu Era News will not keep me from posting here on TipMonkies. More sites are also on the way ![]()

So it seems one of the scripts we run on the site went haywire and it was flagged by our host which is why the site was taken down (by them not me). We are now fully operational and will resume our regular posting schedule on Monday.

A word on our new posting schedule and more

So you all know things have been rather quiet around here but posting will resume again on Thursday, January 12 (no joke!). In order to make things a bit easier for me, we’ll have a new posting schedule, three times a day (morning, early afternoon, late evening). In this way, not only will it give me a bit more time to prepare, but will also ensure the quality of postings remains high and we cover all the latest tips, software, and services.
In other news, we will be rolling out some member services soon for a small fee (as yet undetermined) which will include an ad-free version of the site, forums, a newsletter, early access to podcasts, and a few other goodies which I’m still working out. If you have questions or comments on the member services, feel free to post a comment or drop me an e-mail. What would you like to see? What would be a fair price?

Apologies for being MIA the past few days, but I hope you all had a great New Year’s Eve! I drank way too much but have managed to recover pretty well over the past 2 days. Even though things have been relatively quiet on the site lately, I’ve been doing work behind the scenes. Our hosting package was just upgrade with a few more gigs of storage, the site was upgraded to Wordpress 2.0 (a full review in the next few days) and I’ve been cooking up some other things. Tomorrow, I’ll be adding Shadows support to the site (much requested), Technorati tags support, and a few other minor things.
I’ve also been talking with a few companies who are interested in advertising with us. I promise it won’t be anything intrusive, as TipMonkies will always be about content first. We’ll also be adding some member services soon, but I won’t give any details until I’ve made a final decision. Thanks to those of you continually support and visit the site, as well as all the new readers (we’ve got quite a few it seems). I promise 2006 will bring some great new things around these parts!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

Just wanted to take a minute to wish all of you a very happy holiday season. I’m back from my trip and ready for the Christmas weekend. Hope you all have lots of great stuff planned!
Those of you who check here often, know I’ve been away this past week. It turns out that doctors found out my mother has breast cancer so it’s been a somewhat rough week for me. While I’m not at all religious, if you are, say a prayer for her. She’ll be undergoing six weeks of therapy before her surgery so I hope all will turn out well. As for my recent disregard for the site, I managed to get my boss to give me a small payraise and cut my hours down slightly during weekdays so that I can still make the same amount, and devote as much time to TipMonkies as I have in the past. How’s that for a Christmas present? ![]()
Taking some time off the world, not the site

Many of you know how busy things have been for me lately and I apologize for that, though in the past few days I’ve had the opportunity to post quite a bit. Due to unexpected circumstances, I’ll be away for the next few days to take care of some personal matters (not holiday related) and will not be checking e-mails, answering my phone, or even be on instant messenger probably until Saturday. If you’re a loyal reader though, do not worry as the site will be updated daily regardless. I had a day off work today and managed to write enough posts for the entire week (about 40 or so in all) which will posted automatically through the future post feature in WordPress (what a lifesaver that feature is!). Feel free to keep submitting tip ideas and questions, though, and of course, keep visiting the site! Thanks to all for your continued support.
