I’ve been using this for a while and loved it, but it wasn’t until I found it on Digg that I figured I should post it on the site. GMail is great, but there’s one thing it’s missing: an easy to access delete button! If you’re a GMail user, do yourself a favor and install the GMail Delete Button extension for Firefox which will add one for your through the magic of Greasemonkey.

Not too long ago, we show you how to search through del.icio.us tags with Firefox, and now some intrepid user has managed to do the same for flickr. It’s not terribly difficult to do and accomplishes basically the same thing: the ability to search flickr tags via the Firefox address bar. You can learn how to do it yourself right here.

Firefox has a great built in popup blocker which works great for the most part. There are, however, a few sites which employ holes in certain plugins (Flash primarily) to still be able to show you a popup ad. If you’d like to get rid of popups once and for all, this quick tip should work wonders. I set it up yesterday and haven’t received a single popup yet.

If you’ve become hooked on social bookmarking sites, you may hate to have to bookmark sites on your favorite browser. If so, check out the Bookmark Tags extension for Firefox. After an install and a quick restart, you will be able to tag each bookmark and the extension will create appropriate folders and put those bookmarks in there based on tags you specify. Additionally, it will automatically sort everything alphabetically. While the implementation isn’t quite as useful as say del.icio.us or Spurl, it works quite well so it’s definitely worth checking out.

One little known feature of Firefox is it’s ability to use different stylesheets (CSS styles) for each site which can affect the look and feel and may add some different functionality, and all you need is the Wed Developer extension and a good imagination. Zmarties has created a CSS file for Virtual Earth and Google Maps which provides various improvements including:
- Larger map
- Smaller search window
- Semi-transparent banners
- …and more!
Be sure to check out Zmarties for a full list.

Speaking of cracked or leaked Microsoft products, Microsoft recently started requiring any user to have a legal copy of Windows in order to use Windows Update in an initiative called “Genuine Advantage” and within 24 hours, it was cracked. Before pressing the Custom or Express buttons, paste the following text into the address bar and press enter: javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all') which turns the key check trigger off.

It didn’t take long after Google released their own toolbar for Firefox before Yahoo followed in their footsets. Unlike Google’s offering, the Yahool Toolbar is a big heftier in file size, but offers much the same functionality. Like the Google toolbar, it offers various search options, a pop-up blocker, and if you install it on Internet Explorer, even a spyware remover. You can search the web, news, stock quotes, showtimes, phone numbers, and more. If you’re looking for a search toolbar, and are alreadying using some Yahoo services (like Yahoo Mail), then this may be the toolbar for you.

Google recently released their Google Toolbar for Firefox, and if you’re a fan of Google and use its services for almost everything (like I do), then you may want to install it. Not only does the toolbar allow you to search through Google’s various search engines, it also comes with auto-fill functions, Froogle searches, dictionary and stock referencing, a page rank feature, and more. The toolbar even integrates nicely with Blogger, Google’s own blogging service and offers some basic translation features.

Installation is simple, and works like any other Firefox extension. During installation, the toolbar gives you a choice to use tracking or not. If you’re security conscious, you may want to choose the latter. After a restart of your browser, you should see the toolbar under your Bookmarks toolbar.

Did you know there’s a keyboard shortcut to switch between tabs in Firefox? Simply type in CTRL+# where # is the tab number (so 1 for the first tab, 2 for the second, and so on). This only works up with up to nine tabs, but that’s probably plenty for most of you.
