One of the great new features of the latest version of Mac OSX is Dashboard. It allows helpful graphical widgets to be installed with any number of helpful uses, such as the time and weather. There are a few ways to keep your e-mail address safe on the web, and believe it or not, one of them is disguising it inside an image file. The reason behind this is that spambots (the automated computer programs which scan for e-mail addresses on the web) can read text in links, but there’s no way they can detect the content of an image, only that an image exists. If you are a member of a lot of online forums, or have a webpage, using the E-Mail Icon Generator may save your inbox from some intruders. Simply enter your username, select your e-mail service from the drop-down list, click Generate and within seconds, you will have your own custom e-mail image.

Many websites often ask you for an e-mail address in order to sign up for their service, sometimes just so they can send you endless numbers of SPAM. If you know this will be the case, or if you just don’t want to give your real e-mail address out, there are a few options. First, you could create very good SPAM filters (we’ll be discussing how in the near future), you could create a second account just for junk mail, or you could give Mailinator a try.

A few days ago, I reported on Google’s new web accelerator application and recommended installing if you wished to save yourself some time loading webpages. Well, after some research, I am telling you NOT TO INSTALL IT. It seems that Web Accelerator can pose a giant security breach by caching secure pages.
